Grant S. Carson Member

Grant is currently the Regional Head for GSG EMEA. In this role he has leadership responsibility for the largest GSG region globally, covering 44 countries. The EMEA GSG business services some of the banks largest global clients offering access to the complete set of ICG products and services. Grant has taken on this new role following his time as Deputy President of Citibank Japan Ltd and Non-Executive Director of Citi Cards Japan Ltd where he was based from 2014. In this role he had responsibility for all Consumer Banking operations (Retail & Cards) in Japan and was the senior Citi Holdings Executive in Japan where he oversaw the successful divestiture of the firms non-core assets.
Prior to that Grant was the Citi Country Officer (CCO) for Citi Greece & Cyprus, a role he held from 2011, where he was responsible for all of Citi’s operations in Greece and Cyprus which span Corporate & Investment Banking, Markets, Shipping, Private Banking, Trade & Transaction Services and Securities & Fund Services. In addition, he was the Head of the Consumer Bank which included Retail Banking, Wealth Management and Credit Cards. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Diners Club Greece S.A. and a Board Member of the Hellenic Banks Association.
Before his roles in Greece, he held a number of senior positions across Citi including Managing Director of the International Personal Banking Business in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) based in London from 2007 to 2011, Head of International Business Development for Citi Australia, based in Sydney from 2003 to 2004 and in the Asset Based Finance unit of Citi South Africa from 1998-2000.
During his time in Australia, Grant took a hiatus from Citi and was involved in a group that demerged and then successfully re-listed five wealth management and trust companies as Australian Wealth Management Ltd. During this time Grant was responsible for Group M&A and Strategy as well as serving as an Executive Director on a number of the groups joint venture operations and investment vehicles.
Before joining Citibank South Africa in the Emerging Local Corporates business in 1998, he began his banking career in the Asset Based Finance divisions of Nedcor Bank Ltd. and Standard Bank Ltd.
