Göktürk Basar Multimedia Graphic Designer

Göktürk Başar joined JA Europe in February 2020 as a Multimedia Graphic Designer.

Göktürk has work experience in the field of communications with emphasis on production of audiovisual material, social media management and website editing. His professional experience began in Virginia, USA with WHRO Public Media where he worked in the development and production departments in order to be able to connect with the local WHRO audience. He then worked as a ‘Production Assistant’ in NHR Media, Virginia, USA where he and his brother built a TV-production studio from scratch. He carried out the video-content editing and the management of the company’s various TV shows.

After working briefly in Mersin, Turkey as an English teacher for juniors and up, he moved to Belgium in order to be able to continue his education. He began working for Caritas Europa by creating and editing audiovisual materials as well as keeping track of social media presence. Afterwards, he developed his organisational communication skills by working as a ‘Communication Officer’ for European Schoolnet. He supported all communication and dissemination activities of eTwinning, a project which is co-funded by Erasmus+. Finally, he worked as a ‘Audio Visual Specialist’ for EUROCONTROL where he participated in the design and development of video and animation activities that were used across all of the Agency’s digital channels.

Göktürk has a BA in Communication and Media Studies from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia. He also holds a MA degree in Journalism and Media in Europe from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Brussels, Belgium. He is currently obtaining a MA degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology from KU Leuven, Leuven, Belgium.

Göktürk is keen on music and sports; he plays multiple instruments and loves to play football. He is Turkish and he speaks fluent English and Turkish with intermediate level of French.
