The Public Grants Projects Manager will be responsible for managing all contractual aspects related to several public funded projects. He/She will work closely with different departments and team members throughout all stages of the grant management process as well as holding strong communication links with project partners. He/She will be a responsible, detail-oriented and flexible team player and play a key role in providing technical expertise relating to compliance, budget management and project reporting.

In addition, he/she will be acting as PMO hence responsible for defining and implementing the PM processes across projects and programs.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Deliverables:

  • Monitoring the overall progress regarding milestones and deliverables; 
  • Operationalisation and timing of all activities in the projects; 
  • Identification of any unanticipated risks; 
  • Acting as the centre of communication between all internal and external stakeholders; 
  • Assisting all WP and Task Leaders in their timely delivery of project outcomes and reporting requirements and manage associated budgets (in cooperation with the finance team); 
  • Champion the preparation of deliverables as well as preparation of the technical interim and final reports; 
  • Supporting the development team in proposal preparation for additional funding opportunities for further development of the initiatives beyond the project timeline. 
  • Drafting new and improving existing project management policies and processes for the organisation; 
  • Provide capacity building to JA Europe’s staff and Network.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Experience using MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information and budget management systems. 
  • An University degree; 
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in project management; 
  • Experience with the management, implementation and reporting of public contracts and grants (EU, USAID, UNICEF, GIZ, etc) in complex projects (10+ consortium partners) and budgets (> € 1 million); 
  • Exceptional organisational and planning skills with the ability to coordinate information and processes involving multiple people/teams; 
  • Ability to manage a complex and, at times, heavy workload, to multi-task and take initiative; 
  • Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels within the organisation, listen to and influence others; 
  • Common sense approach, with a positive attitude and the ability to adapt to an evolving working environment; 
  • Excellent English skills, both written and verbal; 
  • Experience of writing for different audiences and purposes and presenting information clearly; 
  • Experience in the preparation of guidelines and handouts;  
  • Experience in in-company training as a trainer; 
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity and appreciation; 
  • Pro-active, self-motivated and result oriented, takes initiative and has the ability to solve problems independently; 
  • Project Management certification is a plus;
