EU STEM Coalition - Climate, diversity and the role of STEM

8 June 2021 Location: Virtual roundtable

Following the Communication on Achieving the European Education Area by 2025, the European Commission requested the EU STEM Coalition to provide input for the upcoming Recommendation on Education for Environmental Sustainability. To do so, we will organise a special webinar on 8 June.

The starting point of the event is that more STEM skilled people are needed to develop the solutions needed to transition to environmentally sustainable societies.

After a brief introduction by the European Commission, three case studies from the network will be briefly presented, illustrating the main points of the position paper. The points discussed are:

  1. How to increase female participation in STEM (case study: ZDI, Germany);
  2. How to mainstream innovative approaches (case study: Jet-Net, Netherlands); and
  3. EU initiatives and funding approaches (case study: Girls go Circular-project, European Institute of Innovation and Technology).

The event will be concluded by a round of discussions. More information about the programme, speakers and position paper will follow soon.

After the event a position paper will be concluded and submitted through the regular consultation. It will be possible to still provide input for the paper for a few days after the event.
