JA Europe and JA Asia Pacific Partner with BSM to Promote Innovation in the Maritime Sector

Brussels, Belgium, 28 September 2023

On the occasion of World Maritime Day, JA Europe and JA Asia Pacific are thrilled to announce their growing partnership with Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM), a global leader in ship management services and integrated maritime solutions.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in increasing awareness on the multi-disciplinary maritime industry and career paths for young people across Europe and Asia, while supporting education for youth.

World Maritime Day, celebrated annually on September 28th, provides an ideal backdrop for this partnership, as it underscores the importance of maritime transport and the global shipping industry in driving economic growth and sustaining the environment.

About the Partnership:

JA Europe and BSM have been partnering since 2021, jointly creating positive impact on local and global communities, especially those related to the maritime industry, by providing a unique opportunity to young people in the markets where BSM operates. Through this extended partnership, JA Europe and JA Asia Pacific will continue to work closely with BSM to engage with young people through an Innovation Camp that introduces young students to the fascinating world of maritime industry, offering insights into careers and opportunities within the sector.

The partnership aims to:

  • Foster Skills Development: JA Europe and JA Asia Pacific will collaborate with BSM in six countries - Cyprus, Greece, Ukraine, India, Singapore and Philippines to create a global maritime-focused Innovation Camp Challenge from March 13-20 that will equip students aged 15-18 with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the shipping industry.
  • Inspire the Next Generation: By providing young people with hands-on experiences, mentorship, and exposure to maritime professionals through dedicated “Career days”, the partnership aims to ignite the young people’s interest in maritime-related careers.
  • Raise Global Awareness: The global Innovation Camp will allow students to experience international collaboration first-hand, enabling them to gain a broader understanding of the global shipping industry and the maritime sector and their significance in the world economy.
