MeetingPackage.com wins AmCham EU Youth Entrepreneurship Award

08 November 2016

The American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union (AmCham EU) and Junior Achievement Europe are pleased to announce that MeetingPackage.com, a Finnish start-up, is the winner of the 2016 AmCham EU Youth Entrepreneurship Award. MeetingPackage.com is an online platform dedicated to the booking of meeting rooms. It allows users to compare various meeting venues and prices at a glance.

The award will be formally presented to Joonas Ahola, founder and CEO of MeetingPackage.com, by Susan Danger, CEO of AmCham EU, on Wednesday 9 November 2016 at the AmCham EU Agenda for Action Scorecard 2016 launch in Brussels.

"JA has played a big role throughout my career and it's an honour to win the AmCham EU Youth Entrepreneurship Award, in collaboration with JA Europe. Without the significant role of JA in the early stages of my life I might not be in this situation where I am currently. I am really looking forward to the mentorship and advice I will receive from the AmCham EU European CEOs. MeetingPackage.com’s main goal is to offer, globally, a user friendly platform for booking and managing off-site meetings and events. The fact that we were chosen as the winner of this award proves that there is a market for what we are offering and we are on the right track to becoming a market leader", stated Ahola.

Susan Danger, CEO of AmCham EU, said; "We believe that MeetingPackage.com will strongly benefit from the advice and mentorship provided by our European CEOs. These mentors lead the European operations of some of the world’s largest companies and I think their input can be invaluable to any up and coming business."

"I am very proud to say that encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation is one of our five policy priority areas here at AmCham EU and it gives me great pleasure to see previous winners doing so well and putting into practice what they have learned. I have no doubt MeetingPackage.com will be the same!" Danger continued.

The award is organised in collaboration with JA Europe and is intended to be a symbol of the past half century of support for jobs, growth and innovation by AmCham EU and its members, as well as commitment to the future prosperity of Europe. It is now in its 4th year.

Caroline Jenner, CEO at JA Europe, shared: "We are thrilled to have reached the fourth year of the Youth Entrepreneurship Award in partnership with AmChamEU. Stories like this are positive proof of the impact of entrepreneurship education in school. It’s all about equipping more young people like Joonas Ahola with the skills they need to become successful entrepreneurs."

The jury selecting the winner was comprised of: Mr. Alex Barker, Chief of Brussels Bureau, Financial Times; Ms. Susan Danger, CEO, AmCham EU; The Hon. Anthony L. Gardner, United States Ambassador to the European Union; Mr. Stefaan Hermans, Head of Cabinet to Commissioner Marianne Thyssen, European Commission; Ms. Eva Paunova MEP [EPP, Bulgaria], European Parliament; Mr. Patrick Xhonneux, Vice-President of EMEA Marketing, SAS.
